Otherwise, the gentlemen should wear dress pants with a button-down or polo shirt (jacket and tie optional), and the ladies should wear either a dress or a nice blouse with a skirt or pants. Please feel free to bring a hat and sunglasses, as refreshments will be served in the outside courtyard between the ceremony and reception.

Weather

The average temperature for early May is a high of 75° F (24° C) and a low of 53° F (12° C). Please check the link below as the wedding gets closer for a more accurate forecast.

As mentioned, refreshments will be served outside, so those with pollen and/or grass allergies may want to take any necessary precautions.

Airports

While the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) is the closest, Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) or Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) will likely have cheaper flights and more direct options.

Lodging

As there aren't many options near the chapel, we recommend looking near the Four Seasons Mall. The Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons is conveniently located within walking distance to the mall, but there are also several 2- and 3-star hotels close by with lower rates. If you do prefer the Sheraton, you can join the Marriott Bonvoy program (Marriott owns this particular Sheraton) and get the cheaper member rate.

We’re still debating about getting a block of rooms, but the hotels we’ve heard back from either can’t offer one due to policy or availability, or their “discounted” rate is the same price as what’s currently listed online. And even with a block, they can’t guarantee the rooms would be near each other. At this point, we suggest going with the hotel that appeals to you most, and to specifically request your rooms be near each other, if desired. Please let us know if you need help with booking.

Social Events

Saturday, May 4th 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Picnic - Greensboro Country Park Shelter #7

This is a chance for the bride and groom to socialize with their guests before the craziness of the wedding day. Lunch will be provided, so please let us know if you’re attending to ensure there will be enough food.

There are walking and biking trails, and a small lake for fishing (though a license is required). The Greensboro Science Center (click for link) is also a short distance away. It has a zoo, aquarium and museum, but does require an admission fee.

Saturday, May 4th 9:00pm-12:00am

Arcade Party

In lieu of more… "traditional" bachelor and bachelorette parties, the bride and groom will be taking their wedding party to a private arcade, and are inviting any wedding guests who would like to join them.

We’re going to Wieners and Losers in Winston-Salem, the largest private collection of working golden age arcade games (the 70s to 1984) on the east coast, and will have about 3 hours of free play. We expect everyone attending will have already eaten dinner, but we’ll provide snacks and drinks. Once we have an idea of who will attend (and who is willing to drive people), we’ll coordinate transportation from Greensboro to Winston and back.

We’ve been asked by the venue to share the following information.

• Please keep in mind, the arcade games are 30-40 years old, so handle them with care.

• Ages 12 and up only

• No smoking or alcohol on the premises

• All food MUST be kept in the concession areas

• Shirts and shoes required. Wieners and Losers is not responsible for any accidents

• All games are either on free play or credited. If a machine runs out of credits, please let an attendant know. DO NOT try to credit a machine yourself
